Weatherford ISD will continue giving meals to children 18 and under on Mondays and Wednesdays at Curtis Elementary and Ikard Elementary from 11 am - 1 pm.

Meals given on Mondays include breakfast and lunch for 2 days.
Meals given on Wednesdays include breakfast and lunch for 3 days.

Meal Pick Up Locations:
Curtis Elementary – 501 W. Russell
Ikard Elementary – 100 Ikard Lane

Serving Times 11-1 on Mondays and Wednesdays

Breakfast and lunch will be given at the same time.
Meals for 2 days will be given on Mondays; Meals for 3 days will be given on Wednesdays. Under current Texas Department of Agriculture guidelines, meal service may only be provided to students who are present.

While it is important to note that we are not aware of any presumptive positive cases in Parker County at this time, we are now aware of the first presumptive positive case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Tarrant County.

As a reminder, Weatherford ISD implements deep cleaning processes throughout the school year to curb the potential spread of viruses, including Coronavirus. Since the virus is now moving closer to our community, we are planning for and anticipate implementing increased measures.

The Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees selected Mr. Rod Townsend to serve as the interim superintendent while they undergo a search for a permanent candidate to replace Dr. Jeffrey Hanks who recently announced his retirement.

Mike Guest, WISD school board president said, “Mr. Townsend has over 35 years of experience in public education that includes serving as superintendent of schools for Rochester, Hico, and Decatur ISDs. He also held several leadership positions with the Texas Association of School Administrators, including president in 2011-2012. Since his retirement in 2017, he has served as interim superintendent for both Spring Hill ISD and Peaster ISD.”

Rod Townsend will begin his term as interim superintendent for Weatherford ISD on March 23rd, the Monday after the district’s Spring Break.

The WISD Board of Trustees approved the memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the Tarleton State University Distinguished High School Partnership Program during a Special Meeting held on February 10, 2020.

The memorandum stipulates that the top 25% of each graduating class from Weatherford High School will receive automatic admittance to Tarleton. The university also agrees to waive the requirement for ACT or SAT scores as well as the admissions application fee for all who meet the application fee waiver criteria.

Weatherford ISD graduates who qualify for Tarleton’s Guaranteed Award Program (GAP) and attend Tarleton will receive an award guarantee $1,000 above the GAP level for which they qualify if the student is ranked in the top 10% of their graduating class, or $500 above the GAP for which they qualify if the student is ranked in the top 25% (but not top 10%) of their graduating class. GAP eligibility criteria and award levels can be found on the university website at http://www.tarletonstate.us/gap .

“We are so grateful for this partnership with Tarleton State University that ensures higher educational opportunities for our high school graduates,” commented WISD board president Mike Guest. “This partnership provides an incentive to all Weatherford High School students to pursue an advanced degree. As a graduate of Tarleton, this is special to me. Our mayor and former school board president, Paul Paschall and I are both graduates of Tarleton. This is where we grew up; where we got our start to become who we are today. There is no doubt in my mind that Tarleton’s Distinguished High School Partnership Program will remove barriers and encourage more students to apply to Tarleton.”

In conjunction with Weatherford High School counselors, Tarleton will provide ongoing support at the high school to include financial aid, admissions, and degree counseling; work study mentorships, peer mentoring, and more.
“We firmly believe that students in the top 25% of Weatherford High School are prepared to succeed and this partnership allows those students automatic admission,” said Tarleton president Dr. James L. Hurley. “Weatherford ISD is an innovative district and the leadership was eager to discuss this partnership. This collaboration is the next step in strengthening our long-standing partnership with the Weatherford ISD and in providing a high-quality university experience to students in our own back yard.”

Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Hanks had the opportunity to read "The Nuff" to children at H-E-B (100 Hudson Oaks Drive, Hudson Oaks) this morning!

H-E-B stores across Texas will be the first stores to launch a new book today along with an effort to convey the importance of inspiring young girls everywhere to know that they are enough, just by being their authentic self.

Veronica Waldrop (1979–2017) was the mother of two beautiful girls, Natalia and Nina, and the beloved wife of Will Waldrop. Veronica was a dreamer, a writer, and a storyteller who found joy in building relationships and sharing experiences with everyone she met.

During her two-year battle with breast cancer, Veronica wrote a magical tale for her daughters to inspire them after she was gone. She passed away on Nov. 4, 2017. Through The Nuff, she hoped to empower girls everywhere to be the bold and confident women they were created to be. Veronica left the world an enduring, heartwarming story of unconditional love, hope, and perseverance. H-E-B believes deeply in Veronica’s message and is honored to pre-launch The Nuff in our stores.

After 38 years in education, Weatherford ISD superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Hanks announced he is retiring.
