WHS Graduation, Baccalaureate, and Prom Information

Graduation Information:

This week, on April 29th, you will have the opportunity to pick up your graduation invitations along with graduation regalia. It is important that you gather these items because we are planning to hold Weatherford High School’s graduation ceremony on the evening of Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Kangaroo Stadium.

We are working on additional details and will send you specific information at a later date, but for now, please save this date. In the event of bad weather, graduation will be held on the evening of Sunday, June 14th. Weatherford High School’s graduation crowd typically includes 8,000-9,000 family members. Due to a seating capacity at Kangaroo Stadium of approximately 6,500 we will be providing each senior with a certain number of tickets for family members to attend. We do plan to live stream this event so those who cannot attend will be able to view the graduation ceremony.

The WISD will be consulting local health officials and following federal, state and local guidelines leading up to the scheduled ceremonies to make certain they will not be in violation of any guidelines governing group size or gatherings that might be in place at that time.

A student’s senior year of high school is normally filled with events that provide memories that last a lifetime. There is no way we could have imagined when we left for Spring Break on March 13th that we would close school for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. While our students have missed many of the traditional senior activities, please know we have discussed dozens of options for your graduation. If restrictions on gatherings are still in effect, we may need to alter plans to manage graduation at Kangaroo Stadium or we may move to a virtual graduation ceremony that will be launched on June 13th.

High school graduation is an important milestone and we are honored to announce this plan to provide a traditional graduation experience for our students and their families.

Baccalaureate:
Mrs. Wright and our STUCO are working to put together a virtual Baccalaureate service for our seniors. We'll let you know more details as soon as they are available.

Family Sponsored Prom:
WHS has canceled our 2020 Prom due COVID-19 and all the social distancing restrictions. However, our great parents and community are looking for a way to host prom for our great senior class. This is not a WISD sponsored event but if you would like to help, please use the following link for more information: https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/School-Fundraiser/WHS-2020-Project-Prom-3042229375788930/
