WISD FACTS Committee
The Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees recently formed a Facility Advisory of Citizens, Teachers and Students (FACTS) Committee as it considers a possible bond election for May 2015. Members invited to serve on this planning committee include a thorough cross-section of our community, including parents and non-parents, young adults, and senior citizens, as well as teachers, business owners and community leaders.
“The FACTS Committee is invaluable to the planning process because it allows the district to hear from and incorporate many different perspectives from people in our community,” said Dr. Jeffrey Hanks, Weatherford ISD superintendent. “The committee is studying current district financial data, the results of a community-wide survey, a district-wide facilities assessment, demographic information and project options and cost analysis. They are also touring existing district facilities and working collectively to develop a bond package that meets the district’s needs. I am confident this process will help make the best decisions for our students and teachers and look forward to working with the community on this important effort.”
The FACTS Committee is led by committee-elected co-chairs, Amy Crippen and Leo Neely. Amy Bonnett serves as the FACTS Committee secretary. In addition, some WISD administrators, Board of Trustee Facilities Subcommittee and district consultants serve in an advisory (non-voting) role on the committee.
The charge of the WISD FACTS Committee is:
• To represent the entire community in the bond planning process.
• To review and prioritize the facility needs of WISD.
• To bring forward a plan to the WISD Board of Trustees that will include recommendations as to what should be included and how much money should be requested in a possible May 2015 bond election.
All information presented to the FACTS Committee, along with a list of committee members, resources, meeting agendas, and minutes, may be viewed at www.weatherfordisdfacts.com. The site is updated weekly and also includes an avenue for community members to submit questions to the district.
