Come out to the Durant Auditorium this weekend to enjoy the 2017 Senior Directed Festival presented by the WHS theatre department! There will be three shows starting at 6:00 pm on Friday and three shows beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday. Tickets are $10 per day at the door.

Bring the family to see Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr., presented by Martin Elementary, on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 at 7:00 pm in the Durant Auditorium on the Weatherford High School campus. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.

Begin your child's love of learning in a Weatherford ISD elementary school by enrolling them in Kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year!

Kindergarten Round Up on Thursday, April 20, 2017, provides parents their first opportunity to enroll children in Kindergarten. Parents are invited to enroll their child at a WISD elementary campus on Thursday, April 20 from 9-11 am and 6-7:30 pm.

New for 2017-2018 Registration: Parents may submit the registration paperwork online starting April 6, 2017, and then contact the school to schedule an appointment for April 20th to complete the registration process. Please see the document linked below for specific enrollment information.

In Weatherford ISD, we believe the STAAR test is just one measure of a student’s academic progress. Nevertheless, STAAR testing days can be especially stressful for both students and parents. Below are some tips to help you help your child approach this week’s STAAR test dates like it’s just another school day.

1. Get plenty of rest!

Studies continue to show the correlation between a good night’s sleep and academic performance. It’s recommended that children ages of 6 to 13 get 9-11 hours of sleep; for teenagers it’s 8-10 hours.

Tip: Turn off electronics about an hour before bedtime.

2. Get organized.

A rushed and hectic morning could potentially have your child stressed before even entering their classroom.

Tip: Help your child select clothes, prepare lunches, and get school supplies ready before going to bed.

3. Eat Breakfast.

Multiple studies show that students who eat breakfast tend to be more alert and ready to learn in the classroom.

Tip: Plan for your child to eat breakfast at home or school.

4. Support and encourage.

Encourage your child to relax and to approach STAAR test days like any other school day. Your child’s teacher(s) has been preparing them for this moment.

Tip: Do a quick review with your child to reassure they are prepared for the test.

5. Write your child an encouraging message

“You’ve got this!” Knowing you are rooting for them, can boost your child’s confidence.

Tip: Consider putting a note of encouragement in your child’s backpack or text a message to your child before they begin testing.

Kindergarten Registration for the 2017-2018 school year will be Thursday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and also from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at any of the District's seven elementary campuses.
Incoming kindergartners must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2017, and parents/guardians must be residents of Weatherford ISD. For additional information, please click on the headline.

The Weatherford Band Fan Club will host a fundraising event that includes a concert, bake sale and silent auction on Saturday, April 1 from 5-8 pm in the Durant Auditorium on the WHS campus.

Weatherford ISD students in grades 4-8 are encouraged to participate in the National Geographic Society’s Geography Bee by taking a written test each spring. The top students at each campus then advance to the District Geography Bee with the winner advancing to the state competition.
