Bus Incident

This morning on Highway 51 a school bus was rear ended by a car. The bus was at the beginning of a route and had stopped to pick up students. Safety features on the bus - flashing brake lights and the side panel stop sign - were activated. When the accident occurred there were three individuals on board - two adults and one student. One of the adults was taken by ambulance to the hospital. As a precaution, the other adult and student are also being assessed. Police personnel are investigating the cause of the accident.

We appreciate the concern from our community regarding this incident. We understand some students may be late to school because of the traffic backup that resulted. Our attendance clerks have been notified and will excuse tardies for those students affected. For the safety of our students and bus personnel we would like to remind drivers to keep a safe distance when following school buses.
