Director of Special Programs and ESL/Bilingual Director Named

The Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Leslie Ackmann as the Director of Special Services and Ricardo Montalvo as the ESL/Bilingual Director at their Regular Board meeting held on May 8, 2017.

Mrs. Ackmann spent the past three years with Weatherford ISD where she currently serves as the Dean of Instruction for Weatherford High School. Before coming to Weatherford she spent eight years in Mansfield ISD as a special education teacher and volleyball coach.

Mrs. Ackmann holds a Bachelor of Science in MultiDisciplinary Studies from McMurry University and a Master of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Texas Pan American.

Mrs. Ackmann said, “My passion is to help struggling learners access curriculum in a meaningful way for each learner. This position will allow me to work with students, teachers, and administrators at all of the WISD campuses and help create plans of success for all students.”
 
ESL/Bilingual Director, Ricardo Montalvo, has 22 years of experience in public education and is currently the principal at Castleberry Elementary in Castleberry ISD. Mr. Montalvo holds a Master in Special Education from the University of North Texas where he is currently working on his Doctorate in Special Education Leadership.

Mr. Montalvo said, “I’m very excited about this opportunity. The people here are wonderful and it’s a welcoming environment. I’m Looking forward to working with the students, community, and staff members in Weatherford ISD.”
