Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Director of Human Resources Named

The Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Deana Lopez as Assistant Superintendent of Academics at a Special Meeting held on Monday, June 19, 2017. Mrs. Lopez has a 34 year career in public education, having served over 20 years in Weatherford ISD as a teacher, principal, Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction, and Federal Programs Coordinator.

Ms. Lopez said, “Weatherford ISD has a reputation of excellence and I am honored to be a part of the Roo leadership team. With the support of our community, Weatherford is a great place to live, work, and learn. I look forward to collaborating with staff to provide meaningful, challenging, and engaging opportunities to all Weatherford ISD students.”

The school board also unanimously approved Kristy Dowd as the Director of Human Resources.
Mrs. Dowd holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Math from Tarleton State University and Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from Lamar University. Her career as a math teacher and instructional coach at Weatherford High School began in 2003 and spanned seven years. From 2010-2012 she served as an assistant principal at WHS; from 2012-2015 she was the Associate Principal at the WHS Ninth Grade Center; and for the past two years, she has been the Weatherford High School principal.

Mrs. Dowd said, “It has been an honor to be a part of the Weatherford High School staff, administration, and family for the past 14 years. Weatherford ISD is a great place to work and I look forward to serving with all staff in this new position.”

Weatherford ISD will immediately begin a search for a new high school principal.
