Top 10 Things to Do Before Graduation

Congratulations WHS Class of 2016! You’ve walked out of Weatherford High School for the last time and are about to walk at graduation. A huge chapter in your life is closing…but before it does, we’ve got a list of the top 10 things to do before you graduate.

10. Share a pizza and play arcades with your friends at The Pizza Place.

Gather up your friends to split a few pizzas while you reminisce about old times and discuss life after high school. Be sure to bring some quarters to pump into the arcades while you wait for your card to be called!

9. Prepare to answer “What are your plans after graduation?”

You will get asked this question countless times this summer…so whether you are going to college, taking a year off, traveling the world, join the circus, or have no clue...just smile and proudly explain what your next adventure is going to be. People are only asking because they are interested in your life…keep telling yourself that!

8. Thank your favorite elementary school teacher.

Yes, they remember you (for better or worse!) and would love to see you. Sure, you have thanked your high school teachers for everything and rightfully so! But, your elementary school teachers had a large role in getting you to this point.

7. Take pictures you will frame.

In a world where all of our pictures are now taken on smartphones and viewed on Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook…there’s something special about a framed picture. Get a good picture of your closest friends that is a “framer” …then recreate the moment at your 10-year reunion!

6. Write a handwritten letter to a teacher who made an impact.

True, you could send an email, but there’s something about a handwritten letter that shows your sincerity. Plus, your teacher will treasure your message and probably pull it out to read on days when they need a little extra motivation!

5. Write a letter to your future self.

This may sound corny, but hear us out! Chances are you’re going to change over the next few years and it’s important to remember who you are right now. Write a letter and discuss things such as your friends, interests, hobbies and future goals. Tuck it away and make plans now to review it in five years. You will be fascinated with how much you have changed and how much you have stayed the same!

3. Meet a friend for breakfast at Downtown Café.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and there are few places that offer the charm of Downtown Café. Start your day off right by visiting with a friend that you might not see until homecoming over a hot stack of pancakes!

2. Take a drive around town by yourself

Take it a trip down memory lane by cruising around town. Drive by your old elementary school, little league field, church, or anywhere that had a significant meaning in your life. To add to the nostalgia create a playlist of songs that were relevant to each landmark!

1. Thank your parents

This is a no-brainer right? However, with prom, graduation, banquets, and other events this can easily be overlooked. Your parents have been supporting you from day one and will continue to provide motivational and probably financial support. A simple thank you is the least you can do.
