Principal Appreciation Month - Carrie Harrison

How many years have you served in education? This is my 15th year.

Where are you originally from?  I was born in Kansas City, Missouri, but I was raised in Benbrook, Texas.

Favorite sports team?  The Aggies…Whoop!

What would be impossible for you to give up? Diet Coke

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?  I’d want to be able to speak all languages because I think it would be amazing!

What “lesson from mom” do you still live by?  My mom taught me to always be generous and compassionate.  When I was eight, she made me take off my favorite Mickey Mouse sweatshirt at a gas station to give it to a child without a jacket whose family was homeless.  At the time I didn’t understand, but now I am thankful that she taught me to take care of others, to be charitable, and to be humble and grateful for all of the blessings in my life.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?  Jimmy Fallon by Ben & Jerry’s.  It’s outstanding.  You need to buy some!

Describe yourself in 3 words.   Loyal, Honest, Caring

Tell us about your family.  I have an amazing husband who proudly served our country for 18 ½ years in the Air Force.  He currently works for the Federal Aviation Administration.  He is funny, kind, and generous.  We have a 23 year old son who currently lives in Paris, France.  He is a talented chef who is fluent in French, and he loves art and music.  We also have a 18 year old daughter who is a Freshman at Texas A&M.  She is hilarious, patriotic, and passionate about life.  We have two dogs, Allie & Meri, and two cats, Disco & Zoey.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?  I’d love to go to Italy.

Name one thing that many people don’t know about you. I can’t stand haunted houses or scary movies.  I absolutely don’t like being scared.

What do you love most about working in public education?   I love that we don’t pick and choose our students.  All students that come to school with us need us for a different reason.  I’m honored to get to build relationships with our students and families, and I hope to make a positive impact on the life of every student that comes through our school.
