Principal Appreciation Month - Joy Bailey

How many years have you served in education? This is my 32nd year!

Where are you originally from?  I was born in Hopedale, IL.  I lived there for 13 years before moving to Hesston, KS, where I graduated from high school.

Favorite sports team?  Whichever team my son Braden is playing on!  J

What would be impossible for you to give up? Chocolate

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?  This one is hard for me to answer.  It’s hard for me to imagine things that can’t be.

What “lesson from mom” do you still live by?  Focus on what I can control.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?  Chocolate Chip Mint

Describe yourself in 3 words.   Optimist, problem-solver, people-person

Tell us about your family.  Avin Carter and I have been married for 35 years.  We have 1 son, Braden, who is a 7th grader at Tison.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?  I like to spend time with my family, so traveling to visit them is my first choice.

Name one thing that many people don’t know about you. I worked at Casa Manana when I was in college.  I worked in the box office, but did “act” in one play, The Velveteen Rabbit.

What do you love most about working in public education?   I love working with children.  Watching them learn and being able to interact with them is the highlight of each day.
