Principal Appreciation Month - Christy Burton

How many years have you served in education? This is my 15th year in education.

Where are you originally from?  Mineral Wells, TX

Favorite sports team?  Texas A&M Football…whoop!

What would be impossible for you to give up? Bean and cheese breakfast burritos with Fuego Sauce from Taco Cabana

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?  The power to heal. I have seen kids and adults alike suffer life-altering illnesses.  Not being able to help someone is not a good feeling.

What “lesson from mom” do you still live by?  Never show up to a party without a hostess gift in hand.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?  Cookies and Cream

Describe yourself in 3 words.   I’m not comfortable describing myself but when I asked others they said that I am loyal, dedicated, and inspiring.

Tell us about your family.  I have been married to Mike Burton for 23 years. Mike is a Director for ADT. Our oldest son Dylan is a Sophomore Engineering Major at Texas A&M in College Station. We also have a 13 year old son Hunter who is an avid athlete. Our family loves the outdoors, especially fishing and scuba diving.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?  Belize, the greatest diving spot in the world!

Name one thing that many people don’t know about you. I operate a tractor frequently and can tack weld anything.

What do you love most about working in public education?   I love the partnership created with parents and their students that we establish working together over the years. It is bittersweet when kids move on to the middle school and I do not see them or their families daily anymore.
