Principal Appreciation Month - Lorie Bratcher

How many years have you served in education? 23 years

Where are you originally from?  I was born in Denton, Texas, but grew up in Davis, Oklahoma. We moved there when I was 8 years old.

Favorite sports team?  OU

What would be impossible for you to give up? Cleaning, enjoying music, coffee, Diet DP, chips…

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?  Invisible Time traveler:  While I would love to go back in time to see myself as a child or to see how my grandfather's life was like when he was young, I would not want to be seen because I would not want to alter or change the future by my presence.  I would love to see great moments in history play out live, and I would love to see my children grow up again.

What “lesson from mom” do you still live by?  “If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all.”  She reminded me of this often when I argued with my brother and sister.  Always treat others with respect and kindness.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?  Dutch Chocolate

Describe yourself in 3 words.   Fun, Energetic, and Competitive

Tell us about your family.  I have been married for 25 years to Scott Bratcher.  We have two children.  Calen is 23 years old and graduated from WHS and Texas Woman's University.  She just got her first real job at Baylor All-Saints.  My son, Kason, is 19 years old.  He too graduated from WHS and is a freshman at UNT.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?  Hawaii

Name one thing that many people don’t know about you. I was a Drum Major in High School and at one time could play six instruments.

What do you love most about working in public education?   I love school!  As a principal, I have the opportunity to impact teaching and learning.  I have the opportunity to help students of all ages to love learning and have fun learning!
