The first reason Burton decided to become a teacher was to pass on what he has learned.
“I am passionate about the Spanish language and cultures, and I want to share and inspire that love in my students,” he said. “I want to expand my students’ concept of the world beyond the community in which they live. I wish to pass forward to another generation the knowledge that the teachers I respected and admired gave to me.
“Besides sharing what has been shared with me, I have chosen to go into teaching to help others” Burton added. “There are few professions in the world where you will have a more direct influence on a person’s life. I want to help my students make the most out of their futures. I strive to be there to listen to my students when they need someone to talk to and to offer guidance when they seek it. There is nothing more rewarding in life than having a student thank you for the impact you have made on his other life.”
