WISD Board President decides not to seek re-election in May

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve on the Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees for the past nine years,” he said. “This has been an incredibly difficult decision for me, but it’s time for me to devote more time to my family.”

Paschall, who also serves as current President of the Paschall Insurance Group, was first elected to the Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees in 2006 and was appointed as Board President in June 2013. He served as Board Vice President from 2011-2013 and Board Secretary from 2007-2011. He was also a member of the 2009 Texas Outstanding School Board presented by the Texas Association of School Administrators.

“Paul has been a loyal school board member, always listened to the concerns of parents and staff, and has provided outstanding mentoring and leadership within the Board of Trustees,” Weatherford ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Hanks said.  “He is a vital member of our school board and his presence will definitely be missed.”

WISD Board Secretary Jeff Geyer also praised Paschall’s tenure on the Board.

Paul’s leadership and dedication will be hard to replace,” Geyer added. “He taught me that being a school board member is a privilege and we are here to serve our constituents by doing what is best for the children and the staff of our Weatherford ISD.”

“Board members shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult choices,” WISD Board Vice President Ashley Conlon said. “Our ultimate goal is always focused on the future success of the children in our district.  Paul has been an important voice for Weatherford for nine years helping to ensure that decisions made have an impact on student success.

“Paul is a great asset to us a board member and as board president,” she added.  “He has a unique ability to bring humor into challenging situations, to encourage robust debate, and to unify a team with a common purpose.”

Paschall expressed appreciation for the work of the Weatherford ISD FACTS Committee.

“The facility and growth needs expressed in the 2013 bond election still exist, and I applaud the efforts of the FACTS Committee to evaluate these issues, visit with our community and bring forth a recommendation that is best for our school district,” Paschall said. “Although I will be stepping down from the school board at the end of my term, I fully support Weatherford ISD and the recommendations to address our facilities.

“I have been blessed to work with a wonderful team of school board members that always put children first,” he added. “While serving, I have experienced and seen things that have changed my life.  Seeing a student succeed is a magical moment…each and every time I see it happen. Weatherford ISD has outstanding teachers and staff that are focused on our students and their success.  I can personally attest to that fact because my children attend Weatherford ISD schools.  I’m so proud to be a part of the Weatherford ISD family.”
