Lillian Holguin was named to the Texas All-State Mixed Chorus, second chair first soprano. Emily Hatch and Rachel Ward were also named to the Texas All-State Women’s Chorus. Hatch was selected as seventh chair first alto, and Ward was chosen as ninth chair first alto.
“This year, over 15,000 students across the state began the audition process to become a member of the All-State Choir,” WHS Choral Director Ronnie Chestnut said. “Our students were competing for only 576 seats in one of the state’s three Large School All-State Choirs.”
Chestnut also said Ryan Boerner, Bass 1, advanced to the find round of the prestigious All-State Auditions.
Each year, 10 ladies and eight men are selected from each section to make up Texas All-State Choirs. The top four men’s and women’s seats make up the Texas All-State Mixed Choir, and the remainder of the selections make up both the Texas All-State Men’s Choir and Texas All-State Women’s Choir.
“I would also like to thank our vocal coach, Carol Pyle, the WHS Choir Booster Club, and the high school administration for all of their support,” Chestnut said.
