Weatherford ISD welcomes new district administrators

Dr. Kathy Ray was hired as the District’s new Deputy Superintendent. She is replacing Holly Teague who recently accepted a position with another school district. Danny Miller was also introduced as the new Executive Director of School Operations, replacing Grant Priess who stepped in to fill the Bridge Coordinator position within the District.

“We are very fortunate to have found two individuals who are able to come on board and make an immediate impact with our District,” Weatherford ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Hanks said.

Dr. Ray joins Weatherford ISD after serving as the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, Instruction and Administration for Stephenville ISD since 2009. She was also the Superintendent of Schools at Zavalla ISD from 2005-2008. She also has an extensive background in the areas of curriculum and instruction.

While in Stephenville, Dr. Ray coordinated the District’s five-year Strategic Plan process, developed a district-wide employment process, developed district-wide job descriptions and evaluations, implemented an online employment application process and an online student enrollment process, and coordinated Board Policy and public information requests.

“I am very excited about becoming a member of the WISD team of educators and a part of the Weatherford community,” Dr. Ray said. “I look forward to getting to know the district employees and students.”

Miller comes to Weatherford ISD after spending the past five years as Director of Student Services at Frenship ISD near Lubbock.

Miller, who also brings 30 years of experience in public education to WISD, has served in several administrative positions in the past including Director of Secondary Education, three High School Principal positions, Assistant Principal, and Athletic Trainer.

In addition to his Superintendent’s certification, Miller also has a Master of Science Degree in Sports Health from Texas Tech University.

Miller’s duties at Frenship ISD included forming and training District and Campus Emergency Response Teams, oversee bullying prevention training and implementing a reporting system, handled disciplinary policies and procedures, liaison with contracted student transportation, responsible for truancy prevention program, and many other duties as needed.
