Seguin students participate in annual 'Hour of Code' event

The Hour of Code is a one-hour activity where students can choose from a variety of self-guided tutorials in order to use 21st Century technology skills.

Computer and Technology instructor Eren Hays said all student – from kindergarten through sixth grade – participated in the Hour of Code at Seguin Elementary.

“The Hour of Code is a first step in showing all students what computer science is all about,” Hays said.

According to the Hour of Code’s website, every 21st Century student should have the opportunity to learn computer science, yet fewer schools teach computer science than 10 years ago. The basics help nurture creativity and problem-solving skills, and prepare students for any future career.
