Hosted for years by the Kangaroo Basketball Booster Club, the tournament will feature more than 60 boys basketball games over three days. Varsity, JV and freshman teams will play in the three gyms at WHS.
The following high school programs will be represented: Weatherford, Aledo, Argyle, Boswell, Burleson, Burleson Centennial, Colleyville Heritage, Conroe, Decatur, El Paso Montwood, Keller Timber Creek, L.D. Bell, Midland, Midlothian, Lubbock Coronado, New Caney, Red Oak, Springtown and Western Hills.
“This tournament is a great chance for teams to play other schools they normally wouldn’t be able to play,” said Brian Miller, Head Basketball Coach at WHS. “It’s also a great chance to showcase WHS and the City of Weatherford to people from across the state.”
The Weatherford varsity is scheduled to play Western Hills on Thursday at 2 p.m. and then Burleson that evening at 8 p.m. The Roos will face Midland on Friday at 2 p.m. The remainder of the weekend’s schedule will depend on the results of their first three games.
Tournament passes will be on sale at the gate for $15. Single day passes are $6 for adults and $4 for students.
“We’d like to say thanks to all of our sponsors, especially the Weatherford New Car Dealers,” Miller said. “We couldn’t put on events like this without great community support.”
