Weatherford Youth Association partners with high school HOSA program

Cheryl Neal of WYA presented a $4,000 donation to the high school program which teaches students to begin working the health care field.

"Many of the career and technologies programs offered at the high school prepare students for work experience as well as enabling them to become valuable members of the community," WHS HST Instructor Patricia Hoffman said.  "If it had not been for this generous gift, many students may not have had the chance to participate in the program."

Both Hoffman and Dr. Daryl Pate said they
will have more students than ever competing in HOSA district and state levels.  Also, the HST department hopes to be able to advance to nationals this year.

"It is important to us to show the district and state what we already know about our students," Hoffman added. "Weatherford produces some of the best and brightest students in the state, and nation.  We are not just a small town, we have more integrity, compassion, and fight in us, because we prize knowledge."
