WHS Freshman “B” Team
Weatherford – 30
Arlington Lamar – 6
The B team was led by the strength of Blevins’ two rushing and one passing touchdown to Dylan Lippard. Evan White also rushed for a 30-yard touchdown, and Jonathan Mitchell had a touchdown catch from J.T. Snyder. Tin Nguyen led the defense with two interceptions, and Joseph Pena got one of his own. Dylan McNall and Christian Aguirre were standouts defensively. Zack Holderness ran very well to finish the ballgame. Ethan Bramlett dominated on the offensive front in the second half.
WHS Freshman “A” Team
Weatherford – 21
Arlington Lamar – 8
The A team defense was the difference maker against the Vikings, as Zeke Hernandez made the play of the night with a 90-yard fumble recovery run back for a touchdown after the ball was knocked loose by Cody Dunson late in the fourth quarter. Ethan Irsik intercepted a pass in the final drive to seal the victory.
Leading the way on defense, Cody Henderson, Jeremiah Hatfield, Cody Dunson, and Tim Parker all played well defensively. On offense, Irsik caught a 25-yard screen pass for a score from Corban Campbell, and Cody Henderson plowed in from short yardage on a touchdown run. Jeremiah Hatfield paved the way for runners all night long.
The freshmen teams will host Arlington Bowie next week in their final games of the season. The “B” team kicks off at 6 p.m., followed by the “A” team matchup.
