Board members recognized Weatherford ISD Director of Support Services Alicia Hernandez and parent Julie Enlow for spearheading the program at the August 17 meeting in the District Services Building Boardroom.
Seven locations throughout the Weatherford ISD community were selected during this pilot program year. These areas included Ikard Elementary School, Seguin Elementary School, Wright Elementary School, Tison Middle School, the Travis Campus, and Western Lake Estates.
During the first week of the program, two Weatherford ISD children told the volunteers that before Healthy Kids, they just didn't eat lunch during the summer.
