Weatherford ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Hanks said the District’s successful completion rates would not have been possible without a collaborative effort between students, parents, campuses and departments.
“I am very proud of the efforts not only by our students, but also by our staff members who continue to raise the bar for all students,” Dr. Hanks said. “Higher graduation rates are critical to the success of our students, our District, and to the future of our community.”
Dr Hanks said he also credits the success of the District’s graduation rates to a new process that was created by the WISD Student Services Department, Curriculum and Instruction Department, Special Programs Department, and Weatherford High School back in 2008.
Since that new process was implemented and deployed, WISD’s graduation and completion rates have continued to rise in all key demographic areas.
“Considering Texas is tied for second in the nation with an overall graduation rate of 88 percent for the Class of 2012, I would say Weatherford ISD’s 98.6 percent is definitely a ‘world-class’ number,” Dr. Hanks added.
In the area of dropout data, Weatherford ISD surpassed both the state and national averages by recording a 0.1 percent dropout rate. The average dropout rate in Texas for the 2011-12 school year was 2.5 percent; and the national figure was 3.3 percent.
