WHS Class of 2014 Valedictorian, Salutatorian information

Abdeljalil is the valedictorian for the WHS Class of 2014, and Austria is the salutatorian.

Abdeljalil said she will be attending Texas Christian University in the fall of 2014 on the Pre-Dental career path. Following a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, she hopes to attend Baylor College of Dentistry to earn a license in orthodontics.

“I have been a part of Weatherford ISD since I was in PreK-3, and I could not have asked for better teachers, students, or a city to have grown up in,” Abdeljalil said. “I’m proud to say I’ve been bleeding blue for the past 15 years of my life.”

Abdeljalil also said she will never forget all of the “Schoolhouse Rock” jam sessions from her history classes, the game-winning three pointer with only 2.7 seconds remaining on the clock in the boys varsity basketball game her sophomore year, or the time WHS students and staff members had to evacuate the building.

“A message I would like to leave WISD students with is that time is scarce and you must treat every day like it’s your last,” she added. “Don’t belittle any of your classmates or take anyone or anything for granted. You never know when you’re going to lose someone, so remember to always be kind-hearted, accepting, and understanding. Infect WISD with your love and intelligence and in the wise words of The Beatles, ‘Let it Be’.”

Austria said although he plans on attending Baylor University in Waco, he is still undecided on his major and career path.

“I joined Weatherford ISD in sixth grade,” Austria said, “and I truly appreciate all the things it has done for me.”

Some of Austria’s favorite memories included dissecting a pig in Biology during his sophomore year, going through a bucket list at the end of the year in Chemistry, watching his Government and Economics Teacher/Coach Todd Werts get pied in the face during class, and – of course – Senior Prom.

“The message I would like to leave behind for WISD students is to take advantage of all the opportunities that come to you,” he added. “Don’t miss out on fun and exciting things by being too serious, shy, or scared. Enjoy your life, say ‘no’ to drugs, eat your vegetables, and stay in school.”
