Wallace, a junior at ULL, has compiled a 14-3 record (plus one save) during the 2014 season
The Ragin’ Cajuns (currently ranked No. 6 in the nation) advanced to this year’s Super Regional by defeating Texas, 10-1, in the 2014 NCAA Softball Lafayette Regional Championship game on Sunday.
Friday’s game against Arizona will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday’s second game is scheduled for 2 p.m. and, Game 3, if necessary, will begin at 5 p.m. All games will be televised on ESPNU.
The winner of this weekend’s Super Regional round will advance to the 2014 Women’s College World Series beginning May 29 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Wallace may or may not pitch this weekend against Arizona, but she’s OK with either outcome. Last fall, she suffered a concussion which her coach, Michael Lotief, said probably affected her pitching mechanics a little bit.
Then, in the first weekend of the season, Wallace suffered a lower back injury.
“There have been some lingering effects from [Jordan’s] concussion, namely, the nerves in her arms and hands were not ‘firing’ correctly, said mother Amy Wallace, who also teaches at Curtis Elementary, “but she’s getting some therapy. She also has strained ligaments in her hand, which makes it painful to grip the ball.”
Nevertheless, Wallace will be ready for this weekend’s Super Regional matchup against Arizona – whether on or off the circle – because this is the first time ULL has hosted a Super Regional final.
