Austin elementary sixth grader Sam Sodek placed first at the event; Tison seventh grader Nathan Arnold took second; and Ikard's Mark White finished third.
Students participating in the event were in grades 4-8 and represented the top two finishers from their Campus Geography Bees held earlier in the year.
"All students did an outstanding job," WISD Instructional Generalist Pat Hardy said. "They answered questions such as the country of origin for the flight that disappeared without a trace, the Russians taking territory from the Ukraine, etc."
Hardy said both Sodek and Arnold made it to the District Geography Bee last year, but it was White's first time to be in the finals.
