Two WISD Board members recognized for nine years of service at Thursday's meeting

Weatherford ISD Board President Paul Paschall honored Hooks by reading some of his accomplishments since coming on to the Board in 2005. Board Member Gail Wirtanen also read about Cowley's accolades during his service.

Kip Hooks - WISD Vice President (as read by Board President Paul Paschall)

As a school board member, Kip Hooks has been a strong advocate for the staff and students of Weatherford ISD.  In addition to the hundreds upon hundreds of hours spent preparing for and attending school board meetings, workshops, and trainings,  Kip has 186.25 Continuing Education Credit hours.  As a representative of the Board, Kip served on the WISD Strategic Planning Committee, Audit Committee, Facility Review Committee, and Greenwood Property Committee.  He has also been a TASB delegate and served as Board Vice-President for the 2013-2014 year.

Throughout the years, Kip has been steadfast in his dedication to serve our school district.  He always spoke with a heart for our teachers, staff, and students…asking the tough questions when necessary.  Kip has been an active supporter of our Education Foundation and just last Friday, he participated in the Habitat for Humanity build.

Besides being an avid TCU fan (and alum), Kip is devoted to his family.

Dave Cowley - WISD Board Member (as read by Board Member Gail Wirtanen)

Like Kip, Dave has spent hundreds upon hundreds of his personal time serving as a school board member.

Dave has 186.75 Continuing Education Credit hours and has served on the WISD Strategic Planning Committee, Audit Committee, Officer Selection Committee, Board Operating Guideline Committee, and as TASB Delegate and Alternate.  Dave also serves on the Weatherford ISD Education Foundation as a representative from the Board of Trustees.

In his position as a host on The Morning Show on QXFM, Dave has been a promoter of countless student, booster club, and school district events.  Each summer…when it’s 110 in the shade…he promotes the Education Foundation’s school supply drive with a remote broadcast at Jerry’s GMC.  He IS the voice of Weatherford ISD and we are so grateful to him for emceeing our school district and Education Foundation events.

Dave also has a heart for our students and our teachers.  A few years ago, Dave greeted students as they entered Crockett Elementary on the first day of school.  At the next school board meeting, he made sure to recognize our staff who serve as crosswalk guards at their campuses.  Dave always made sure our staff felt appreciated.
