Chapman, who currently serves as Superintendent of Schools at Paradise ISD, will be replacing WISD Executive Director of Human Resources Richard Crosby who has announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2013-14 school year.
“We are fortunate to have someone of Monty’s caliber join our Weatherford ISD team,” WISD Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Hanks said. “He has been an administrative leader for the past 20 years, and we welcome his knowledge and expertise to the District and community.”
Chapman has been Superintendent at Paradise ISD since 2009. He also served as the Assistant Superintendent at Paradise ISD from 2003-09 and was the High School Principal from 1994-2003.
In 1988, Chapman began his teaching/coaching career at Clarendon CISD where he taught biology, anatomy, health and physical education. As a coach, he was named the District Coach of the Year in 1994 after leading his team to the Regional Finals and its first District Championship in 19 years.
Most recently, he was nominated for the “2013 Citizen of the Year” by the Paradise Chamber of Commerce.
“It is essential that the staff empower students and help prepare them for ‘their’ world,” Chapman said. “I am committed to supporting a quality education where students are self-motivated, independent thinkers, and have the confidence to compete in their global future.”
Chapman and his wife, Andrea, have two children: Jadi (22) and Baylee (19).
