Martin fifth graders receive special 'thank you' letter from airmen in Afghanistan

"We tried to get the items there for Christmas, but it took much longer than expected," Brown said. "I am very proud of the kids and their efforts."

Brown said the class also made a large sign that each student signed before shipping the package to Afghanistan.

Last week, Brown received a reply from the airmen. The contents of the letter are listed below:
"We got your two boxes today! I immediately grabbed the first group of Airmen I could get my hands on to finish the loop or your mural traveling around the world so the students could have something to show for their hard work. I know they've been waiting a long time! It is now proudly hanging in our foyer for all to see and read their awesome letters - what a big hit! Above all the candy and treats, letters from kids are the most cherished items.
We have a lot of troops transporting through our door coming in and going out of country and a lot of times they are in need of the exact items you supplied - wholesome snacks, new socks, washcloths, and travel-sized hygiene items. It's as if you read our minds, thank you! I assure you these items will not go unused.
It was a treat today having Christmas again! Thank you for taking such good care of the men and women of the United States Air Force!"
