Dear Weatherford ISD Family –
On Monday, March 23, 2020, Parker County Commissioners approved a 30-day declaration of local disaster in an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19 in our community. This declaration limits the size of gatherings to no more than 10 people and mandates the cancellation of all such gatherings of more than 10 people until further notice.
As a result of this declaration, Weatherford ISD has made the decision to close schools, offices, and facilities through April 21, 2020. At this time, we anticipate reopening schools on Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
Weatherford ISD will rely on guidance from the Texas Education Agency, and our local, county, and state officials as we move forward. This suspension of normal school operations has been made in support of protocols for social distancing designed to “flatten the curve” of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We understand the gravity of this decision and its impact, but our top priority must be the health and safety of our students, staff, families, and community. Weatherford ISD will remain flexible as we plan for the long-term delivery of instruction and continue to navigate the many details of this unprecedented situation. We are committed to communicating with families and staff when additional information becomes available and will post all updates on the WISD website, and on the District’s social media sites.
We understand this decision lead to more questions than answers. We invite you to email any questions you may have to [email protected]. We will do our best to provide answers.
We recognize this decision may place an extraordinary strain on families and ask for your support as we all do our part to address this pandemic.
Rod Townsend
Interim Superintendent
