WISD Instructional Paraprofessional of the Year

Our Instructional Paraprofessional of the Year builds powerful relationships with students, parents, teachers, and her peers. Her calm demeanor and ability to think outside the box creates an atmosphere where students feel nurtured and are able to succeed.

Each morning, she has duty at the back of our school where she helps students unload from cars and enter the building safely. She is often the first face our students see each day when they arrive on campus. At the beginning of the school year, she took it upon herself to make morning drop off an inviting, warm experience for all our students. She brought a speaker from home so she could play music and dance while she greets the students in the morning. Then she took it a step further by organizing and planning special Friday drop off days. Each Friday students are greeted with a new, exciting welcome that might include costumes, blowing bubbles, egg hunts, or chalk writing with encouraging messages for students. Rain or shine - each and every day - our students start their day with a positive greeting because of our Weatherford ISD Instruction Paraprofessional of the Year, Sylvia Kerfoot from Martin Elementary!
